About Noël

Noël Kingsley, FRPS

Professional practitioner for the Alexander Technique, Photographer and Author.

Noël Kingsley,FRPS has been a photographer for over 45 years specialising in trees, church interiors, Gardens and landscape. He works exclusively in monochrome, preferring its subtle and expressive mood.

Noël immerses himself in projects that usually last for many years and by so doing, he gains a deep understanding of his subject while fine-tuning his technique in the process. He develops the negatives and prints by hand in his darkroom, giving the utmost attention to detail in order to produce silver bromide photographs of the highest quality.

The images you see here on this website are scans of original hand printed photographs which have then been uploaded. Inevitably some of the subtlety of his work is lost in the process, nor can one experience the unique tactile quality of a fine hand-crafted picture. But hopefully they do give a good indication of Noël's approach and of the work.

He is a member of the Royal Photographic Society and was made a Fellow of the society (FRPS) in 2004. His tree photography is regularly used by The Tree Council, the Woodland Trust, The Ancient Tree Forum and his portraiture has been accepted for major International Exhibitions.

Noël's most recent project is photographing the 5 acre private gardens of The Old Rectory, Netherbury, Dorset. After 4 years work exclusively on this project his portfolio of over 250 hand-made images is nearing completion and a selection from the collection is expected to be exhibited in Dorset in spring 2015.
